All Made Up Makeup Workshop

Vivian Tran of All Made Up held a makeup seminar today at S Fine Dining.Judy and I showed up, with me taking pictures and Judy learning makeup.

Here’s Vivian starting the day with a lecture on the basics of makeup. She included a bunch of great advice intertwined with useful diagrams.

The food was hosted by S Fine Dining, a high-end Vietnamese Restaurant in Westminster. These are spring roll appetizers wrapped with cucumber. Served with a great peanut sauce.

Fashion – APEX Charity Fashion Show

The Asian Professional Exchange (APEX) threw a charity fashion show at J’s Lounge in Downtown Los Angeles last night. I headed all media and was responsible for the majority of the runway shots. Everyone was on a volunteer basis and most of the models were pulled from the Miss LA Chinatown Pageant and the Miss Vietnam Socal Pageant. Here’s what it looked like:

Second from the right is my cousin Alan, who headed the event and as a team we generated a good deal of money for children in need.

My first time ever to this event and it’s 4 years after I graduate. The energy was amazing at the parade and rally, as you can see from the photos.

50th Anniversary – Tom and Licia

I did my first 50th anniversary, which really is no different from any other event. I did a fair amount of formals with kids and grandkids and every variation under the sun, which is nice for expanding my skill set beyond photojournalism. Wow, 50 years since their last first dance and cake cutting. This event was at the Pasadena Masonic Temple.

Alhambra High School – Once Upon a Mattress

Today I took pictures of Alhambra High School’s theater production “Once Upon a Mattress.” These talented youths sang and danced, which made for many photojournalistic images. Here’s the results:

I called this guy Ninja Gaiden. And the silly jester was trying to joke his way into the girls bathroom!

This shot was during their rehearsals.

And on with the musical! I know you can’t hear the words, but the photograph speaks in many other ways.

Alhambra High School – Basketball

My assistant for videography plays for the JV basketball team for his high school. So I did a little sports photography for him and his teammates. The photograph in color is my assistant going for a lay up.

I love doing event and sports photography.

Graduation – Nursing School

My friend Tiff graduated from nursing school and I photographed the event as a favor. I have all the pictures of individuals receiving their medals HERE.

The nursing school is at Pasadena City College (PCC). Here is my friend waiting to walk down the aisle during rehearsals. The Dean of the Health Sciences Department watched over the whole rehearsal and ceremony.

They are acting for the real ceremony!

Each graduate wore a red flower boutonnière.

The mother of these two finished the nursing course but succumbed to cancer. They spoke to the audience in remembrance and honor of their mother.
