This Sunday I organized my first fashion shoot, securing a great team and location.  This was mostly an experiment in lighting, versus a commercial shoot with a marketing objective.  Here are the shots and at the bottom are the credits.

Some great shots here, very dramatic!

The only thing missing for me is catch lights in the eyes. 3455 and 3480 really stand out; with dark eyes like that, the lack of a catch light makes them look almost dead.

Overall, fantastic photos and wonderful lighting!

Yeah, with Asians it is always a good idea for catchlights. I do that with all my formals at weddings, even if it is only a little pop at 1/128th power. But for this shoot, the aim was dramatic lighting. We had four strobes going from all directions, with two snooted and 2 with large softboxes. Many of the pics you see are lit dramatically from both sides (180 degrees). I didn’t really even want that many pictures with the model looking at the camera, thus no catchlight. These were more experimental than just the standard headshots.

Tips on using this blog

I've setup most of the articles on this site to have links to all the photos from any given shoot. Make sure to click on the individual photography galleries (usually as links after the images, but before the comments). This helps establish consistency and it also shows how each wedding or engagement photography session may vary from couple to couple.

now what? you can go back up and see more picstures, but if you are ready give me call
