I absolutely LOVE your work!! I am a self taught photographer who is in my first year of work from turning my passion from hobby into bussiness. I started my business all by myself...from my website, from picking out my cannon d50, to backdrops and a small studio and sending away paperwork for my LLC. I had no clue on what I was doing and what equiptment to even start with.
I have spent all morning, and I mean hours, looking over your work, dreaming of someday being as good as you are. I am a registered nurse first, but my true love is wedding photography. The way it feels to see the best day of someone elses life through my camera and be able to capture that for them gives me the biggest honor and thrill ever! I love what I do and want to be able to succeed in every way possile. If you are ever bored and find a moment to glance at my work and have any pointers on how I can improve, I would LOVE that. I need construcive critisism so I can continue to grow. Thanks and have a wonderful day!

I'm using a pretty strong flash (AB1600 at full) in comparison to the ambient light coming in. Just keep working those settings to see. Usually if the image is completely blown out if the subject isn't blocking the strobe, you will get a sweet backlight.

Quick question for you. I've been trying to perfect the hairlight technique that I see you using a lot on your photos (not sure if i'm using the term correctly - but the technique where your off camera flash is creating the halo effect around the subjects). How strong of a flash are you using?

Great posts Gavin, I agree 100% with creating finished photos straight from the camera.

Hey Gavin, I was just surfing the web and happened upon your site. Very nice! It's interesting to see that an unprocessed wedding can look just as stunning as a processed one! I echo Brad Ross, wouldn't it be nice if they were all like that!

Good work!

Life would be good if all weddings could be unprocessed. Lots of golf and time with the kids. Nice work .
