This Sunday I organized my first fashion shoot, securing a great team and location. This was mostly an experiment in lighting, versus a commercial shoot with a marketing objective. Here are the shots and at the bottom are the credits.

I shot an advertisement piece for Onetri, a new but expanding triathlon company based here in Orange County. This was a quickie shoot, with the first part being in a commercial parking lot and the second part in Laguna Beach.
Kelly and Glen decided on UCLA and Santa Monica for their pics, so I try to get new pics whenever I shoot at the same location (especially when it is the next week).
Today I shot Sudheer and Caitlin’s engagement photo session. We all descended from UCLA (actually I ascended from the bowels of the engineering hall, Boelter), so it was pretty cool to visit old hangout spots. Many of these spots were awesome for that midday college nap in the shady grass of a brick [...]
Stephanie and Nathan got married down in San Juan Capistrano at this awesome ranch called Rancho Capistrano. They originally met in North Carolina, but they are settling here in Orange County.
I’ve been staying up late until 5AM again working on expanding the horizons of my photography. And no these are not induced by drug use…
Vivian Tran of All Made Up held a makeup seminar today at S Fine Dining.
Theresa and Darryl are both from Atlanta, but decided to have their wedding at a friend’s house up in Pasadena. They are an awesome couple together. Darryl is really goofy and it shows in the photos.
I’ve been experimenting with high speed photography, specifically with liquids such as milk.
I don’t care if you shoot in RAW. Color gels allow you to control the light sources COMPARED to other sources.
Somehow I became the designated family photographer. Go figure.
I was shooting for Steve Hoffmann today and got a chance to experiment with my new Pocket Wizard (PW for short) Mini TT1 and TT5.
Today I shot Laurel, who actually won the the Miss LA Chinatown Pagaent in 2007.
The Asian Professional Exchange (APEX) threw a charity fashion show at J’s Lounge in Downtown Los Angeles last night.
Judy and I headed out to Las Vegas this week for the annual Wedding and Portrait Photographers (WPPI) conference.
Today I shot some stock photography for an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) website (yet to be disclosed). These included some basic images of techniques with various MMA gear. I had to do a couple fighter-style portraits. They are actually nice guys so don’t let the images fool you:
Here’s a “superman” flying punch during a sparring [...]
Cynthia and Rick had a small and intimate wedding with just them, the officiant, and me.
Today I shot Ashley and Johnny in downtown Los Angeles and then out in the hillside above Covina.
Today I shot the Indie band “Entice,” who were actually played on the Warped Tour this year. They were looking for an album cover photo of the four of them. We started at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and then made our way down to some empty streets in Downtown Los Angeles.
Locations: Walt Disney Concert [...]
Shara and Jason had their wedding at the Centennial Heritage Museum in Santa Ana. I stopped by their home in Anaheim for getting ready pictures and the rest of the day was at the museum. The building is amazing in texture and character (a photographer’s dream).
As per Jewish tradition, here is their ketubah signing during [...]
Hayley and Scott are eloping out of the country for their wedding, but they did their engagement shoot locally here in Southern California. We started at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and wandered around downtown Los Angeles. After that we hit up some awesome graffiti’d walls in other parts of Los Angeles.
Today I shot Hannah and Kevin, a Korean couple, at the beautiful St. Regis Resort in Monarch Bay. They brought in a Korean ceremony specialist that dressed them in the full traditional outfits, which took place during the reception (so they could still have a Christian ceremony).
And Judy rocked it with this image. The amazing [...]
Tonight we did a fun photo session of a Z with Doug of Furious Photographers. Using strobes and flashlights, we busted out some wicked lighting. All these images have had only mild post done to them, specifically contrast.

Cara and Jason chose Huntington Beach for their shoot (since they live a few miles away). We started at their apartment and from there hopped over the the Huntington Hyatt.

Michelle and Matt had an intimate day wedding in Laguna Beach at Tivoli Terrace.
Today we hiked out to Temecula for a wedding at Faulkner Winery. I had Lawrence (from Furious Photographers) as my second shooter and he rocked it like always.

Michelle and Beau chose the Brookside Equestrian in Walnut, which was an amazing outdoor venue.

Britt and Lloyd had a small and intimate wedding in Laguna Beach at the Pacific Edge.
